Mesvin Ayala was a Finance Officer with the EECMY chuch in Oromia, Ethiopia. He came to UK to study and was given asylum here as he had been imprisoned for five years in Addis for church-based "political activities" against the regime. At Chilwell Road he was interviewed by Martin Stott and sang with his wife Konjit and her daughter Hirya, who now live in Birmingham. The Junior Church baked cakes decorated with the colours of the Ethiopian flag.
